Changelog
Every release, in plain words. The app checks for updates once a day and shows the same notes before it installs one.
1.0.24 27 October 2026
- A dictation is never typed twice: in browsers it could land once in the field and again as a paste.
- If you switch to another tab or window while your words are being typed, they're copied instead of landing in the wrong place.
- Dictations that are copied instead of typed now show up in Recent like any other.
1.0.23 23 October 2026
- TypeVoice is now $19.99 for one Mac (a team key is $79 for five people), and the License tab shows the new prices.
1.0.22 22 October 2026
- In slow or busy apps, a dictation no longer pastes whatever you had copied before instead of what you said. Your clipboard still comes back afterwards, and dictations no longer sync to your other devices through Universal Clipboard.
1.0.21 29 September 2026
- The pill no longer sits silent after the Mac has been idle: the mic is ready in about a tenth of a second, not three.
- Dictations no longer end mid-sentence when something else on the Mac plays sound or the audio setup changes.
- Text goes into the app you dictated into, or is copied if that app isn't there any more; it never lands in another app, is never typed twice, and your clipboard comes back as it was.
- Terminal's Secure Keyboard Entry no longer blocks dictation everywhere else.
- Lists and paragraphs keep their lines when you mention a number; “one second”, “a two year old”, “the blue one” read as said; “2x”, “20%”.
- “dodged that bullet” and “a new line of shoes” stay sentences; “the voice” stays “the voice”.
- License: using your key again on the same Mac no longer takes a second seat, a Mac that was offline a long time re-checks instead of showing “trial ended”, and Delete Everything keeps your license.
- Transcription bug fixes.
1.0.20 29 September 2026
- The pill shows the moment you press your key, even after the Mac has been idle, and the mic is ready about ten times sooner. Before, the first press after a while could end with nothing recorded.
- “First” stays a word (“First, we ship”), and “one three” is no longer typed as a time.
- Transcription bug fixes.
1.0.19 29 September 2026
- Thinking out loud stays out of your text: “you know”, “I mean”, “like”, “anyway” and “I don't know” go when they only fill a gap, and so do restarts like “I'm waiting for, I'm waiting for”. “Do you know the answer” and “I like it” stay as they are. Part of Remove fillers in Style.
1.0.18 28 September 2026
- Hyphens where a pair of words describes the next one: “a one-time purchase”, “a 7-day trial”, “a follow-up email”. “It syncs in real time” and “I'll follow up” stay as they are.
- Transcription bug fixes.
1.0.17 28 September 2026
- Questions get their question mark even when you don't raise your voice at the end: “can you send me the file” ends in “?”, while “do it” and “what you say stays offline” keep their full stop.
- A lowercase “i” and a sentence that starts in lowercase get their capitals.
- Transcription bug fixes.
1.0.16 25 September 2026
- Fixed dictation not starting on Macs whose microphone and speakers run at different rates (every MacBook Air out of the box): TypeVoice now listens at the microphone's own rate.
1.0.15 23 September 2026
- Microphone fixes. On Macs where macOS refuses the usual way of opening the mic (error -10868, most often with a Bluetooth headset connected), TypeVoice now records another way instead of failing, for dictation and for the Test button.
1.0.14 23 September 2026
- Microphone fixes. If the chosen mic can't open (it happens on some Macs while a headset is connected), the Test button and dictation now use the Mac's current input instead of showing an error.
1.0.13 23 September 2026
- Transcription bug fixes.
- TypeVoice now shows in the Dock while its window is open, and steps back to the menu bar when you close it.
1.0.12 22 September 2026
- "Reddit" stays "Reddit". A word pack was turning it into "Rediff" because the two sound alike and the model had been a little unsure. A spelling the app already knows, whether a household name, a pack term or a word in your Dictionary, is now never replaced.
1.0.11 22 September 2026
- Lists, said the way people say them. "I want three things today. So first lights, second camera and third glasses" becomes a numbered list; "add these to my list. Eggs, basket, sugar, and that's all" becomes bullets, with the "and that's all" dropped. The ordinals no longer have to start a sentence, a count ("three things", "a couple of points") announces the list, and whatever you say after the list stays as a sentence below it.
- Saying "bullet point" as a word ("it should be in a bullet point") no longer turns into one.
1.0.10 22 September 2026
- Web addresses, spoken: "typevoice dot ai", "logs dot so", "jane at example dot com", "slash support" come out as typevoice.ai, logs.so, [email protected], typevoice.ai/support. When the model hears "dot" as a full stop ("logs. So"), that's repaired too, wherever it can't be a real sentence.
- Import a list… now explains the file format before asking for the file.
1.0.9 22 September 2026
- Word packs. The Dictionary tab now carries lists of spellings the model has no way to know: Developer tools (3,600 names from Homebrew, PyPI and Wikidata, plus our own picks) and Internet slang (hand-picked). A pack only steps in where the model was unsure of a word, your own Dictionary always wins, and Import a list… takes any text file, one term per line. Files inside the app; nothing is fetched.
1.0.8 21 September 2026
- Microphones, sorted out. The Mac's own mic is now the default even when AirPods or another Bluetooth headset is connected: it hears you better, starts instantly, and doesn't drop the music on your headset to headset quality while you talk. Pick a headset under Settings › Microphone if you need to whisper. A mic that changes or disappears mid-sentence no longer kills dictation until the next launch; the sentence finishes with what was heard.
- Insertion can't be held hostage by a busy app: Accessibility questions time out in 0.3 s and paste takes over.
- Summary: one Export button (the save panel picks the format), and Clear History moved from the toolbar to the end of the list. A tidier Dictionary row and Privacy page.
1.0.7 21 September 2026
- Fixes a crash when choosing an item in the menu bar menu.
1.0.6 21 September 2026
- Apple Intelligence bug fixes. Smart cleanup is now off by default; turn it on under Style if you want the model's edits and don't mind a moment more per dictation.
1.0.5 20 September 2026
- After an update installs, the window comes back where it was instead of the app quietly relaunching in the menu bar.
- The menu bar glyph eases between states. Listening lifts the bars a little rather than swapping in a different, fatter icon.
- Settings › About says Changelog, like the site.
1.0.4 20 September 2026
- Style › Sign-off: a fixed note on the end of every dictation, for places where spelling gets judged — a coding assistant, a ticket queue. Off by default; the text is yours to change.
- License: with a personal key, the team key is one click away and this Mac can switch to it; the tab knows which kind of key it holds; the key is re-checked while the app stays running, not only at launch.
1.0.3 20 September 2026
- TypeVoice is open source: the code is on GitHub under the GPL v3, linked from the Privacy tab, Settings › About and the Help menu. Nothing about the app changed; now you can check.
1.0.2 20 September 2026
- The License tab shows the price for your country, where there is one: a flag, the local figure on the Buy buttons, and what the checkout will add for tax.
1.0.1 20 September 2026
- Everything about how the text reads now lives under Style: numbers as digits, paragraphs from pauses, spoken commands, filler and stutter cleanup, and Smart cleanup with its Apple Intelligence status. Settings keeps the trigger, microphone, indicator and updates.
- Settings has an About section: the version, Check for Updates, the automatic-check switch and "Changelog". Check for Updates is also in the app menu and the menu bar menu.
- Links from the app open the site's clean addresses.
1.0.0 20 September 2026
The first release.
- Hold a key, talk, let go: the words are typed into whatever app you're in, through Accessibility, with paste as the fallback.
- English speech recognition on the Neural Engine (NVIDIA Parakeet), fully offline after a one-time model download. Nothing you say leaves the Mac.
- Cleanup by rule: fillers, stutters, numbers, spoken commands ("new line", "bullet", "number one"), natural lists ("grocery list: milk, eggs, bread"), paragraphs from pauses. Apple Intelligence tidies further on Macs that have it.
- A personal Dictionary for names and product terms, matched by how they sound.
- Summary: every dictation, searchable and exportable, with the time it saved you.
- Optional voice notes: drag the audio of any dictation into iMessage, WhatsApp or Slack.
- Trigger your way: the Globe key, a chord like ⌥⌘, a combination, tap-to-toggle, double-tap to keep listening hands-free; Esc cancels; a stop button if anything takes long.
- Seven-day free trial, then one purchase. Updates in place.
