Looking for voice answers in Typeform?

If you landed here, you probably typed something like "typeform voice answers" or "can respondents record audio in Typeform" and found forum threads, workarounds, and third-party widgets. That is because Typeform is, at its heart, a beautifully made text form builder. Respondents type or tap. As of this writing there is no native way for a respondent to answer a core Typeform question by speaking; the closest thing in that family is VideoAsk, a separate product built around asynchronous video.

TypeVoice is the thing you were searching for. It looks like a form and shares a link like a form, but the questions are answered out loud. Your applicant opens the link on any phone or laptop, presses record, and talks. Live microphone only, no audio file uploads, limited retakes, and a time limit you set per question.

Then the part typed forms cannot do: every answer comes back to you as a recording, a transcript, and structured data. You tell each question what to listen for ("current revenue as a number", "is the speaker the decision-maker"), and the AI extracts it. On top of that, every submission gets a 1 to 100 seriousness score with the reasoning written out, so your inbox arrives ranked instead of chronological.

Why does the medium matter this much? Because a text box in 2026 accepts anything, including the polished paragraph an AI wrote seconds earlier. Every typed application now sounds the same. A voice answer costs the applicant something real: two minutes of their own thinking, in their own words, at their own risk of pausing before the budget question. That cost is exactly what makes the answer worth reading. Or rather, hearing.

To be clear, we are not a Typeform replacement for surveys, quizzes, or checkout flows. Typeform is excellent at general-purpose forms and we happily use it for that. But if the form you are building is an application, an intake, or anything where the real question is "how serious is this person", you have outgrown the text box.
